Dave Mann

Dave Mann

Dave Mann with his raw passion and talent has performed all the major folk festivals and played with legends like Archie Roach, Shane Howard, John Butler, Carus, Lior, Eric Bibb, Missy Higgins and more all around Australia (as well as Canada, NZ and Europe) in his years as front man and celebrated slide guitarist in his well loved trio - Dave Mann Collective.

Dave has developed a dynamic slide guitar sound and style encompassing open tunings and electrified acoustic 6 string guitars that can go from subtle acoustic sweetness to screaming edgy solos.

When Dave met his wife Bec Schofield (celebrated vocalist/musician, activist, teacher and theatre practitioner) in Kakadu NT 2008 a very powerful alchemy took place. The pair have been collaborating ever since in all things life, family and music. They turned their attention away from the big stage towards the remote road and built their own tiny eco house on wheels (complete with mobile recording and PA set up), had three children (inc.twins), produced and recorded their own albums, started home schooling and travelled (on Waste Veggie Oil) all over the country together playing festivals and house concerts finding themselves concentrating their musical efforts in recent years to their exciting duo -THE NOMADICS.

The NOMADICS have been Awarded Fairbridge Festival favourites by RTR Radio and toured sold out shows with the Waifs to critical acclaim. Their songs are inspired from their love of land and family. This intimate music features soothing harmonies that meld into one through their favoured single mic approach. Mandolin, slide guitar, banjo and open-tunings come together to create their unique form of soul country music with its bare feet firmly planted in folk. They sing songs of Country and family; breathing life into characters and stories that yearn to be heard and honoured. Their harmonies are so perfect it almost hurts as both are blessed with incredibly rich and soulful voices which meld seamlessly.
