David Kent Trio

Dave Kent is a budding Jazz Guitarist, Composer and Band Leader originally from Shrewsbury, England. After completing his Bachelor of Music in Jazz at WAAPA he spent some time in Melbourne and is now residing in the Margaret River region in WA.

Dave has led his own large ensemble where he composed and arranged music for horns and rhythm section, as well as
fronting his own organ trio while also performing as a soloist, in duos and in other ensemble formats. In 2017 Dave spent time in New York and was taught by and performed with the likes of Dave Pietro, Dave Schroeder, Alan Ferber, Wayne Krantz, Brad Shepik and Ari Hoenig. In his time at WAAPA Dave was taught by and performed with the likes of Dr. Jamie Oehlers, Tom O’Halloran, Freddie Grigson, Kristian Borring, Jeremy Grieg, Dr. Mace Francis and Chris Tarr.

Dave is influenced by a range of music and art including guitarists such as Peter Bernstein and Bill Frisell and filmmakers such as David Lynch. Dave presents some of his original compositions and his favourite standards in the trio format for your enjoyment.
