Dogtown Cigar Box

Established out of necessity to perform, Dogtown Blues Box was the mastermind of entertainer Brendon "Dog" Thomson who was looking for a fresh unique sound in blues.

He chanced upon a performer called Richard Johnston using a cigar box guitar on a youtube video in Beale street,  Memphis. Not only did the raw sound catch his attention, but the visual uniqueness of that guitar sparked a flame of curiosity and spent several years developing his own style of cigar box utilising local timbers and incorporating a hint of Australia into the mix.

Initially commissioning small numbers to local artists like Lyndsey Wells and Jim McClellend (Blue Shaddy), it became clear to consider supplying the broader market based on the questioned asked after each gig he does... "where do I get one of these".

Each guitar is individually handcrafted and no one guitar sounds the same accentuating the instruments unique qualities. Tried and tested in the toughest performance eviroment known to man...the pub scene. But is equally at home on the festival stage under the performance envelope of West-coast blues outfit Two Dollar Dog...
