Plectra Ensemble

Plectra Guitar Ensemble is the student guitar ensemble at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Edith Cowan University.

The ensemble has been at the forefront of guitar ensemble excellence for over fifteen years and is known for its innovative thematic programming and performances of new music by Australian and international composers—including multiple world premieres of works by Australian composers.

Consistently ranked as “outstanding” by international adjudicators at the WA Classical Guitar Ensemble Festival, Plectra Guitar Ensemble has toured to the Great Southern Region on several occasions. In 2017, the ensemble performed in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, and in 2018 the ensemble performed in Melbourne as part of a collaboration with guitarists at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Plectra Guitar Ensemble is directed by Associate Professor Jonathan Paget, who leads WAAPA’s classical guitar program.
