Youth Zone

So you wanna start a band? Maybe you're interested in making instruments or learning about recording?

You've come to the right place!

Strings Attached 2023 has a huge program this year full of fun and engaging events for U25’s, whether you’re looking to dip your toes or dive head first into the world of strings. Get some hot tips on how to jam with your friends, take your songwriting to the next level (or write your first song!), learn how to get started playing shows or nail your first few chords - there are tons of workshops on offer all weekend, all 100% free for the next wave of musicians and makers.

Check out the program below and head over to Youth Scholarships to apply for a weekend pass to the whole festival plus a mentoring session with a professional in your field of interest.

Enjoy the festival and keep shredding!

- When is the festival?

WAGF 2023 runs 4pm Friday 6th October 2023 - 9pm Sunday 8th October 2023

- Where is it?

The festival will be held across multiple venues in Margaret River, WA. A good place to start is the Festival Hub @ Margaret River HEART.

- Can I go to all the events at the festival?

Pretty much! Check out the Youth Program for a comprehensive list of events specially for U25's only, which you can check out without a parental guardian needing to accompany you. There are heaps of other things you can check out at the festival as long as you have a parental guardian with you - the only things U18's won't be granted admission to are marked 18+ on the Festival Program, so be sure to check that out first!

- why are some events free and others not?

All the Youth Events are free and available only to U25's to ensure a fun, safe and non-judgemental environment where kids can enjoy learning and experimenting. These are being offered for free by the festival in order to make them as accessible as possible and encourage personal development, creativity, engagement and exploration of career pathways for the next generation. In order for the festival to be able to run annually we still need to charge for other events though, so we hope you've saved your pocket money big kids!

- where is the Zone room?

Next to Margaret River Skate Park (the Eastern Side), Wallcliffe Rd, Margaret River WA. Keep an eye out for a festival banner showing the entry.

- will my children be supervised if i leave them at a youth event?

There will be at least one staff member with a valid Working With Children Check in attendance at each youth workshop, along with the experienced artists presenting the workshops and our door staff. All venues being utilised for youth workshops are alcohol free zones, and staff have been advised to take a strict approach to ensure the safety of youth events at the festival.

- can i ask for no photos to be taken of my child?

Of course! There will be a photography consent form available at each youth event; if you'd rather no photos be taken of your kids then just let our staff know and they will pass it onto the media team.
