Danny Loong

DANNY LOONG is the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Director of Timbre Group.

Prior to starting Timbre Group (then known as Ublues Group), Danny was the bandleader of one of Singapore's most traveled, and highly regarded by the media and critics, blues and roots band Ublues. The band performed in Australia, Spain, Italy and parts of Asia and received critical acclaim in USA at the "International Blues Challenge" in Memphis USA in 2003. The band has also shared the same billing with James Brown, Bob Dylan, John Legend among many others at international music festivals. Ublues was also the first Asian band to be invited to perform in the prestigious music festival in Byron Bay, Bluesfest.

Danny with partner Edward co-founded Timbre Group, which is a holding company with a diversified portfolio of music lifestyle brands creating an eco-system of holistic and synergistic range of businesses. This range from food and beverage concepts such as the Timbre chain of live music restaurants, bars hawker centre and gastro-park, key events Timbre Rock & Roots (in partnership with Bluesfest Byron Bay, promoted a festival which included Paul Simon, Robert Plant, John Legend, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, Buddy Guy and others in their line-up) and Beerfest Asia (as Creative Director for the last 11 years including the upcoming 2019 edition), event and artists management, as well as a music education arm Timbre Music Academy.

Danny and Edward were both conferred the "Tourism Entrepreneur of The Year" award by the Singapore Tourism Board at the Singapore Experience Awards in 2010. He was a member of the Arts & Culture Strategic Review (ACSR) committee, Vice-Chairman of The Music Society, Singapore (SGMUSO) and also member of the Industry Advisory Group at The School of Contemporary Music at Lasalle College of The Arts. Danny also sits on the Industry Panel for National Arts Council (Music).

Danny continues to be passionate and active on mentoring and grooming younger talents and is still performing regularly with Raw Earth and project bands such as Soul Spectacular, and strongly believes that Singapore musicians and bands needs to export their music out regionally and internationally to maximize the full potential of our music and creative works. He has been propagating that cause through Timbre Group and board member and as Vice-Chairman with Music Society, Singapore (SGMUSO) whose central focus is to promote and export Singapore acts and music overseas especially within South East Asia though cultural diplomacy projects and creative collaborations.
