The Rough Housers

Three journeymen musicians met at the crossroads…

We’d love to tell you a cool story like that but the truth is far more sedate.

The Rough Housers are a trio of rockabilly lovin' dudes, bringing energetic fun to audiences with their own swag of impressive original songs and killer versions of great rock 'n' roll and rockabilly classics from years gone by. Formed by three members of popular local group Murphy's Lore with a mutual love of rock 'n' roll, country, blues and rockabilly, The Rough Housers work hard every show to get people up & dancing for up to two and half minutes at a time.

The dynamic trio consists of local gun guitarist Jason 'Eddie John’ Smith on twanging geetar, Kieran Murphy on stand up drums and lead hollerin' & Shaun 'Across 110th' Street on upright bass and background yelps.

This mighty triumvirate of musical ne’er-do-wells finally got around to releasing their debut single in early 2021, pressing “Life’s a Drag” b/w “My Bonneville” as a limited edition vinyl 45.

Brian Ray, guitarist for Paul McCartney and Etta James, described their debut single ‘Life’s a Drag’ as a “killer psychobilly car culture rocker!”

Writing and recording continues with plans locked and loaded for a long player in the not-to-distant future.

Following in the fabled footsteps of such luminaries as Eddie Cochran, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Ronnie Hawkins & the king himself Lonnie Donegan, The Rough Housers are getting ready to ride again… if you’re willing to join them, there’s a table waiting at the festival de la twang!
